UVRC Campout
Save the Date: UVRC Campout, June 13-15 Our (inaugural?) UVCR group campout is a little over a month away! Friday and Saturday, June 13 & 14, come join your UVRC buddies for some fun at Barnes Field Group Campground in New Hampshire’s White Mountain National Forest during the Mt Washington Road Race weekend. This is right by Dolly Copp Campground, and about a 5 minute drive to the start of the race. We will be staying in Group Site 4, and there is a limit of 40 people. Upper Valley Segment Running Challenge
With Spring feeling like it’s coming on in full swing, here’s even more motivation for you to get outside and start running: Introducing the Upper Valley Segment Running Challenge! This month-long challenge, starting tomorrow May 1st, is based off of a similar running challenge that happened across different cities in the U.S. The gist of the challenge is this: There are 6 segments located all around the upper valley; each are roughly .4 miles long. Every segment completion nets you 1 point, and whoever has the most points at the end of the competition, by 11:59pm May 31st, wins. You…

From a pretty early age I recognized that all adventure stories (Treasure Island, The Call of the Wild) started by going through the door and getting out of the house. And in a great many of them (Narnia, The Hobbit) that ment walking. Usually a long ways. Hiking was clearly the simplest rout to adventure and in middle school I became a scout and learned to camp and backpack.
