Board Meeting Notes February 2015
UVRC Board Meeting – February 17, 2015 – 7:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.
Present: Geoff Dunbar, Jim Burnett, Tim Smith, Rob Edson, Julie Paye, Betsy Gonnerman, Mike Gonnerman (non-Board member)
Absent: Paul Coats, Mike Silverman, Kim Sheffield
- Posting of Race Series on Meet-up: UVRS, NHGP, and Trail Series posted. Mike will contact Lori to post Mountain Series.
- Committee Review: Tim has contacted almost everyone who had been listed on a committee, to clarify involvement. He will send out e-mails that list the committees, their members, and their mission. It was suggested that there be one contact person on each committee, whose email is on the website, and that an article be submitted to the newsletter with this same information.
- Next event in Speaker Series: March 5, 6:30, Mayer Room (Howe Library) will feature UVRC members presenting racing options in the Upper Valley. Jim will talk with Dave Sullivan re listing these races on the website calendar.
- Couch to 5K program: Since our last meeting, Paul and Kim have committed to spearheading this project, with “coaching” help from other members. Plan is to start in May, after Kim arrives in the area, with the targeted race being Run from the Law in Canaan in early August. Advertising will need to start earlier (?April). Tim will discuss with Paul what he has planned. It was suggested that involving other local rec departments would be beneficial – e.g., Enfield, Norwich, Hanover
- Volunteer opportunities need to be updated on website – Mike Gonnerman to do.
- Sponsorship: Mike Silverman has proposed a sponsorship for the club, and a contract is being worked on. Also, Omer & Bob’s contract needs to be renewed. Sponsorship committee will handle both of these.
- Upper Valley Running Series: Geoff announced that the UVRS listing and registration information is now available on the website. Julie has designed posters and post cards that will need to be distributed soon, before the first race Shamrock Shuffle.
- May event: Bill Young, who is a member of the pedestrian and bicycle committee in Hanover, has said there will be an event in May, promoting running/biking safety, and asked if the club would be interested in being a part of it. All present agreed that the club should participate.
