Board Meeting Notes January 2015
UVRC Board Meeting – January 19, 2015 – 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.
Present: Geoff Dunbar, Jim Burnett, Betsy Gonnerman, Mike Silverman, Rob Edson, Julie Paye, and Mike Gonnerman (non-Board member)
Absent: Paul Coats, Tim Smith, Kim Sheffield
- Election of Officers: Mike Silverman volunteered to be Vice President. Betsy Gonnerman volunteered to be Secretary. Paul Coats will be treasurer, as is required by his role as Director of Lebanon Rec. Tim Smith was appointed President, in his absence. He will be contacted to confirm that he is willing to accept this position.
- Jim Burnett took the opportunity to acknowledge and thank Geoff Dunbar for his last 2 years as President of UVRC, and for his years of commitment to the club.
- Meeting times: It was decided that a regular monthly meeting time and place would be most efficient. We have agreed on the 3rd Tuesday of the month, at 7:00 p.m. (after TNT) at Ramunto’s.
- UVRace Series: Geoff reported that the races have been selected, and will be posted on the website. The Race Committee will be working on the registration and the advertising of the series. Julie has agreed to help with a poster and/or postcards. It was suggested also that the series be posted on some on-line calendars, which Mike S. agreed to exploring.
- Posting Race Series on Meetup Sites: Rob will post the UVRS Series and the NH Grand Prix Series, and Julie will post the Trail Series. Mike G. will ask Lori to post the Mountain Series and Mt. Washington.
- Committees: It was noted that the current committees (and members) listed on the website needed updating. This will be done by Tim, the new President, and be reviewed at the next meeting.
- Speakers Series: Jim announced that on Feb. 4th, Laura Hagley will be speaking at Howe Library. Jim will send out an e-mail, and get it listed in the Valley News calendar. He is also planning an event, probably in early March, where local race series are introduced, so that members and non-members can learn more about the race opportunities in the area. Various members will talk about the different race series available.
- Couch to 5k program: There had been discussion of this program last year, but it was postponed until this spring. It was felt that Kim and Paul were essential to the program getting off the ground, and that therefore it should not start until Kim arrives in the area. This would mean that the target race might not be until the summer. Other members had agreed to be part of the coaching team, but a leader is needed. Betsy will reach out to Paul and Kim, to make sure the commitment is still there.
- Volunteers: The volunteer opportunities list needs to be updated on the website. Mike Gonnerman will work on this with his committee.
