Website – Tim announced that Alex Hall is willing to take over management of the website. It is unclear whether he will also be taking over the roster management. UVRS – Rob has been working on the race series, and announced that 7 out of the 8 races are already firm. He plans to announce the entire series at the Red Zone 5k, on Feb. 3. An email is going out with the complete list of races. Two of them are in the Upper Valley: Shamrock Shuffle in March and the CHaD Half Marathon in October. In addition, at the meeting, it was decided to add open divisions for males and females. There is also interest in having trophies for the club winner, and each of the open winners. The Board decided that they would be willing to financially support a third of this cost. Discussion ensued re increasing participation in the series among members. Members present: Tim Smith, Geoff Dunbar, Betsy Gonnerman, Paul Coats, Dave Sullivan, Jim Burnett, Megan Miller, Julie Paye Members absent: Mike Silverman, Kevin Hartstein, Kim Sheffield Non-members present: Nancy Dunbar NHGP – Race selection takes place in December. Geoff and/or Jim will be attending the meeting. We will be proposing a few local races for the series, such as: Shamrock Shuffle, Run from the Law, Run for Pie, Skip’s, and CHaD ½ marathon. UVRS – Rob Daniels will be taking over Dave’s duties for this series. Dave suggested making the application process more formal, so that the race directors know what the criteria are (e.g., certified course, timer, etc.) The race selection process usually starts in January. These will be presented at the banquet. Jim suggested we consider the Red Zone race, which takes place in February, as either the first race in the series, or a precursor to the series. Members present: Kevin Hartstein, Dave Sullivan, Megan Miller, Jim Burnett, Geoff Dunbar, Kim Sheffield, Paul Coats, Betsy Gonnerman Members absent: Tim Smith, Julie Paye, Mike Silverman UVRS: Dave reported that 6 of the 8 races have been completed. The smaller races, which had a larger percentage of UVRC members participating, clearly benefitted from their inclusion in the series. Prizes will be awarded to those who finished at least 6 of the races, which could be as many as 30 people. Discussion ensued as to possible prizes. Paul will look into the cost of jackets. It was recommended that next year, in addition to contacting the athletic directors at the local high schools, that the coaches be directly contacted as well. It was also recommended that Kim (or another UVRC representative) go to practices at the high schools, to announce it, as well as give the schools printouts to post in their locker rooms. Members present: Tim Smith, Geoff Dunbar, Jim Burnett, Julie Paye, Kim Sheffield, Megan Miller, Betsy Gonnerman, Dave Sullivan, Kevin Hartstein Members absent: Paul Coats, Mike Silverman Non-members present: Jared Fortier, Bill Young, Lorna Young Scholarship: Only one essay was received this year, but it was excellent, and the award was given to Raphael Harriman at the Red White & Blue Race on July 4. The hope is that next year, with greater visibility, there will be a larger response. Kim will continue to chair up the committee. Foliage Five: Apparently there was considerable damage done to the course from the July 1 storm. Once that is assessed, it may be necessary to consider an alternative course.
